Death Is Not Predictable.
Death is losing its hold in the land of Authora. As the dead rise and sleepers awake, the weaving of webs begins and the lines blur between the two worlds as memories fade from one to another. Elsie Lind is slowly remembering and regaining her past, but in doing so, she has become an outlaw and now the most coveted woman in Authora. As word of her return spreads throughout the land, a change has come and not even the dead will rest. The Spider Witch, now free of her prison, will not be deterred from her plans. She will stop at nothing to secure Elsie as a means to her own power. But, who else seeks the benefit of the heir to the throne of Easa? A benefit such as being able to control the dragons could make grand plans more than possible. What evil awaits? What plans have been set in motion?
Who will Return to Easa?
Quite the month :-)

Next in October, the amazing Jen Mulvihill has released the greatly anticipated Return To Easa. The cover art is by the master artist Mitch Foust (http://mitchfoustart.com/). If you are not familiar with his massive body of work, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
“Death is losing its hold in the land of Authora. As the dead rise and sleepers awake, the weaving of webs begins and the lines blur between the two worlds as memories fade from one to another. In honor of the sequel’s release, we have asked amazing artist Mathew Kaminski (http://matkaminski.blogspot.com/) to give The Lost Daughter Of Easa a bit of a face lift.
“After falling through a portal, seventeen-year-old Elsie Lind awakens with amnesia and lost in a forest. She must draw on her instincts of self-preservation to escape ravenous wild beasts, goblins, demons, and a dark witch who knows the secret of her past.”

And just to start November off right, Malice in Memphis is holding their annual retreat and the rumor is that their just may be a murder to solve, the murder of our very own Allan Gilbreath.
In the unlikely event he survives the retreat, Allan is scheduled to appear at the Desoto Writers Alliance in Southhaven, MS. on Saturday 4th at 10:30 am to answer questions about publishing. Come on out 🙂

Stories To Die For
The amazing storytellers of Malice in Memphis specialize in taking historical locations and fictionally embellishing them with new characters, mysteries, and murder. They have now taken on Memphis’ finest and oldest active burial ground, the famous Elmwood Cemetery.
Founded in 1852, it is the final resting place of over 75,000 residents. From the common to the infamous, from the powerful to the famous, they are all here. The tapestry of life and death in the Mid-South is laid out in a beautiful garden cemetery with sweeping vistas, massive ancient trees, and spectacular monuments from the Victorian age to modern sculptures.
Malice in Memphis is now adding their special touch to the myriad of stories drifting among the mausoleums.

Looking up
I know that anyone in the publishing business right now is a bit crazy, but that is a mental state I am comfortable with. After this weekend, I am looking forward to a lot of the new projects we are developing. Perhaps rampant optimism, perhaps a lot of very hard work by a lot of people whose time has come. In the coming soon department, how about a monthly class / media show?

From 4 pm to 6 pm

September 29th at Germantown Public Library (Germantown, TN)

Creiton’s Sword by Steven Glen Baird
Creiton’s Swords were legends in their own lifetimes. The tales of Duke Creiton’s personal guard were known in every tavern and alehouse, but for Bryant they were just stories. He had no time for stories. It was all he could do to carve a place for himself among the guard of Bren while coming to terms with guilt for the family he’d left behind. But then the bells of Bren pealed out the warning of war, and there was only time for survival.
Bryant’s first taste of battle was nothing like the ballads. He saw no glory or honor in the butchery, and instead of riches there was only terror and ignoble death. But as he buried his closest friend, Bryant made a simple promise that would change his life. Never again would he stand idly by when he had the power to act. Never again would he hide behind the lie of helplessness. And when his first act on that promise led to saving a powerful nobleman’s life, Bryant found he’d started down a road with no way back. For Bryant had gained the attention of Creiton’s Swords, and no one who did that was ever the same again…

New Release – The Cabin
The bodies are adding up , but the clues aren’t
“The place was perfect. It was far enough from town to be in the middle of nowhere and close enough he could return to his home so that no one would miss him. Walking back outside, he surveyed his surroundings. Not far from the back of the house was a murky swamp. He smiled. In case of emergency, it would serve as the perfect place to dispose of an unwanted body.”
Young healthy men and women are dying mysteriously after being found non-responsive at different places around town. No matter what the ER team tries to save them, they fail. The only clues left on the bodies are minor scratches and small puncture wounds. Detective Mason knows that he is on the trail of a careful yet bizarre serial killer. He has followed the deaths and clues from city to city. Now, with the help of a nurse, he may finally be closing in on the killer if he can control his own dark secret before more bodies come in drained of blood.
Only a vampire needs that much blood.
