Hello 2018

Under a full moon on a clear and very cold night, we are going to welcome 2018 into our lives.  To say that 2017 was an experience is a lot like calling Godzilla some kind of large lizard.  So we say our goodbyes to the old year and let our spirits go looking forward.

Happily, at Dark Oak Press and Media, we have lots of changes, new books, new media projects, new seminars, and much more set for this year.  While this business has undergone many changes of the last ten years, we are continuing to grow and adapt to our changing world.

For those of you still debating writing that story, novel, script, screenplay, or whatever, do yourself a favor and just start writing.  Don’t worry about anything.  There is nothing that can’t be fixed once your project is written.  The secret is to get it written.  Sit down and write.  No, it is not easy.  If it was easy, it would not have value.  The act of creating something from nothing is an amazing journey.  It is a journey that I highly recommend that you take.  You will learn so much.  You will make massive mistakes.  You will do things wrong.  You will have to do things over and over.  You will also learn so much that you will be eager to tackle the next project.  Make 2018 the year you decide to join The Amazing Order of Done.

Here’s to wishing you and yours a very Happy, Safe, and Prosperous New Year!

T’is The Season

We hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.  Don’t worry about those amazing holiday meals and desserts, those calories don’t count, they are for keeping you warm this winter.  That sounded good anyway 🙂

Thank you to everyone who came out to the MCFC (http://www.memphiscfc.com) convention in Memphis. It is always great to reconnect with fans and catch up on the news since the last convention.  It is also fabulous to met new fans and share in the discovery of whole new worlds.  If you have not come to a convention yet, you really should.  It is like finding a lot tribe of people that totally get you.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Malice in Memphis (http://www.maliceinmemphis.com/) book release event at Novel Memphis (http://novelmemphis.com/) for the new Elmwood: Stories To Die For (http://www.darkoakpress.com/elmwood.html).  It was great to see so many people supporting this organization.  As a not so subtle hint, this book will make a great holiday gift to yourself or any mystery reader you have in the family.

Snowflake GardenAs a great read for this time of year:
The Blood in Snowflake Garden by D. Alan Lewis
Max Sneed, a retired Police chief finds himself reluctantly drawn back into service to investigate the murder. For Max, exploring the dark seedy side of the jolliest city on Earth is nothing compared to facing the demons of his own past. He is joined by a young British journalist, Robert Watson. Rob finds himself disillusioned by the short comings of the North Pole as well as how the turbulent events of the 1960’s are echoed in Santa’s city.
